Advertising standards
Advertising keeps the site free. These rules keep it honest.

Paid placements are always labeled

Anything paid for is labeled where it appears: “Sponsored” for ads and sponsored guides, “Featured” for featured companies, and “Spotlight” for local agency placements.

Advertisers can’t buy our opinion

  • Advertisers and sponsors have no access to write, edit, review, or approve content, including guides they sponsor.
  • Paying us doesn’t change organic directory ordering, factual company information, or complaint data.
  • Ads are kept visually separate from guides and tools.

How advertisers pay

Advertising and sponsorship fees are flat or based on impressions or clicks. They are not based on whether anyone buys a policy.

What we won’t accept

  • Ads with false or misleading claims, such as coverage promised as “free” when it isn’t.
  • Ads for insurance from companies or agents that aren’t licensed where they’re selling.
  • Placements designed to look like our editorial content.
  • Ads that collect your information to resell it to other companies.
